Mother's Day, 2009

What a beautiful day it was today. Mother (Mimi) came down for the weekend to spend Mother's Day with me and we have had a wonderful time. Yesterday, she went to the Mother/Daughter Tea at church and today, we met Clark, Alix, Huston and Emy at Oak Hills for Mother's Day lunch. Of course that is always a treat with two little ones. Huston, as always (and just like his Lovey) had MUCH "butter" - YUM! At one point...Jimmy was laughing very hard and Huston, the comic he is, began imitating his laugh and cracking everyone up. He's such a hoot sometimes! Emy, after a small lunch, had a large cookie and broke a glass cup of ice cream with sprinkles all over the floor. But..."that's okay (as Huston explained and I followed in agreement)...after all, it wasn't at our house and she was able to get more for her satisfaction. Afterwards, both little ones had had enough of having "inside" voices and "still" bodies. Out we went to the grassy area near the course for a little running and "rolling" in the grass. Emy was sooooo cute - she was waving at the golfers as the finished on hole #18 and riding past her in their golf carts heading to the club house. Then, before we left, a picture with Mimi for my scrapbook. All in all, it was a wonderful day and time for a nap.

Mother-Daughter Tea 2009

Each year, the children's ministry at our church have a Mother/Daughter Tea the Saturday before Mother's Day. Tables are available for sponsorship by anyone choosing to pick a children's book and decorate a table around the theme of their book. This year, Alix and I decided to each sponsor a table. Alix chose, "The Midnight Train" and I chose "Big Words for little people". We both spent much time decorating our table and making cupcakes for not only the decorations but as deserts for our guests. The fun for the day is not only in decorating the table and having your friends and their loved ones come, but going around seeing all the fun tables and children's books throughout the room. Mother came down from Lufkin for the event and I invited my BSF friends and their Mother/daughters to share in the day. We had lots of fun and ate great food. I can't wait to begin planning for next year's event. I'm going to start looking for my book NOW!

"Jim's" Pirate Birthday Party

Since Clark and Alix's computer has been down, I haven't been able to get the photos from them to share of Jimmy's birthday party we had hear at home for him. I allowed Huston to choose the theme and to choose the cake. Well....you can only imagine what a 3.5 year old will choose. Since he chose a "Thomas the Train" theme for his daddy and Uncle Robbie, he decided he wanted "Jim" to have a "Pirate" party with a pirate cake. What fun H and I had planning and picking fun decorations for the party. I even made shrimp etuphe (sp?) for dinner to keep with the "fishy" theme. Okay, okay...I can't spell Cajun language! Anyway, we had a great time. I was able to get one pic off Clark's camera. As you can tell, I think the birthday boy had a good time. I'll post more pics when Clark forwards me the rest. In the mean time...let's hope the "office gang" doesn't get a hold of this one!

2009 Black and White at Oak Hills

Well this year, Jimmy and Clark had the opportunity to play in the annual Oak Hills Member-Guest "Black and White" Golf Tournament again. It is a three day tournament with lots of activities enjoyed by all. This year, the guys had their best year yet. In fact, they actually came into some money on the third day and they even shared their loot with the girls (Alix and I). Saturday evening is the black tie event ending the big event. Even the women play up to the "black and white" theme and most everyone and everything is still in black and white. We had loads of fun and the food, company and band was great. As soon as Clark sends me pics taken with their camera, I'll post some additional fun ones of the evening.

What???????

Our little Emy has a habit of taking her clothes off and running around without any. She was playing in the back yard when a ball went over the fence. Clark got on the fence to look in the neighbors yard, checking out how to get the ball, when he heard Alix's voice say "Clark...look". Emy had taken off her clothes and was right there with him. Can you imagine his surprise as he looked down and saw her looking up at him? Alix caught them in this photo at the perfect time! Can you not tell this is definitely Clark's daughter? Just look at the two from BEHIND!

Easter Sunday at Oak Hills with the Easter Bunny

Easter has come and gone but the memories are still fresh. What a wonderful day we had. Jimmy picked up the the pictures we had made of the children at Oak Hills by the professional photographer on Easter Sunday. As you can see they were mesmerized by the precious bunny they had for the children. That is all the children's favorite thing to do - have their picture made with a REAL bunny! Are these not the MOST BEAUTIFUL children in the world...I mean REALLY...and it's not because I'm the grandmother!

Cupcake Heaven

What a fun day Alix and I had today. The guys were out on the course practicing for the Black and White tournament. Alix and I have a mother-daughter tea coming up at church and are each planning on sponsoring a table to decorate and invite guest. To sponsor a table, one must pick a children's book, decorate a table for 8 guests themed around the book, invite 7 guest besides yourself and have fun. Each of us are planning on serving cupcakes for desert at our table. We decided to practice making decorative cupcakes that we would serve. She came to my house and we made cupcakes all afternoon. It was so much fun and we felt sooooo creative! I can tell you this, if Alix hadn't been there, I could not have done it alone. She really taught me a lot. Take a look at the fun cupcakes we made. I can't wait till we make the real ones for the the tea!

Shopping for Big Jim's Birthday

After leaving Concordia's Fiesta parade, Alix, Emy and I went to LaCantera Mall to shop for Big Jim's birthday present. We walked over the entire mall looking for just the right gift. On our way to the car, we passed "Build A Bear" store and saw the most adorable bear in the window. I asked Alix if we had time to stop and buy a bear for Emy. I had not gotten her anything in a while and wanted to purchase her a bear. It was the cutest bear...it was a white bear and had on pink shorts and an eyelet top that matched the eyelet out she was wearing. It had white sandals, a white headband, pink sunglasses and a pink cell phone. Emy LOVED the cell phone and kept putting her ear up to the phone and saying "hello?" She was so adorable. I couldn't resist! Those little black pig tails tilted to the side with her ear to the phone...how can anyone resist buying that baby anything she wants?

On our way out and to the car, Emy saw water everywhere. She stopped at every fountain to look at the water gushing. She was so adorable.

Fiesta at Concordia

Hi Everyone! Well it's Fiesta in San Antonio and as you may know, EVERYONE in San Antonio celebrates when it's Fiesta. The entire city including the schools celebrate at some time during the week of Fiesta. This week, Huston's school had a Fiesta parade and I went along with Alix and Emery to see the big parade Concordia had with all the preschoolers. It was ADORABLE! Each class designed their own Fiesta outfits and and parade decor and paraded around the parking lot with the grade school and parents looking on. It was such fun and the children were adorable. I've included pics for your pleasure. Huston is so shy, he's not much into parading. Whenever he saw me or Alix, he cried. We had to hide to take pictures. He searched the crowd for us and we had to work real hard to avoid being seen. I got off a few without being seen. But once....we'll can you guess which picture I got caught?

Emery had a ball at the parade. She had fun playing around and not much into parade watching as you can tell.
